With the huge success that the Corvette ZR1 has enjoyed since its return in 2009 many felt that Chevy would stop production of the Z06. Well those who thought that notion up were recently proven wrong in a big way as Chevy showed its commitment to the Corvette Z06. Chevy recently announced that later this summer the all new 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition will be made available. This special edition Vette is only going to go to 500 lucky individuals and it will of course bring all sorts of goodies with it.

There had been plans for a mid engine V8 arrangement but the Global Financial crisis has meant that plan is on hold (temporarily). For the V8 engine we will most likely see a reduction in cubic capacity to 5.5-liters and very possibly direct injection, along with an increase in the compression. Don't expect such technologies as over head camshafts.

Many enjoy keeping up with the latest of the 57 Corvette restorations at auction and for sale. Others enjoy Corvettes through 1996 where you can get information on the different versions C1 through C6.

The older Corvettes, those produced before 1984, show classic car looks and muscle. The newer models have muscle but fantastic handling and sporty looks. So you have a two seater car that can appeal to a wide range of people. There are always those looking for the unique two seat car.

Ugly Corvettes or Art Cars in Disguise that is the question I have for you today. Over at Jalopnik
this Dragon Corvette is considered ugly but here its an art car in "process". Even though it was voted "single worst custom Corvette in history" it will find save haven here with the rest of us who took perfectly good cars and added "personal" touches. While I was out an about I found a few more corvettes that needed to come out of the rain.

Corvette Stingray concept, which debuted at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show and had a starring role in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, on the surface looks as though it could provide some design and powertrain influence for the next C7 Corvette. However Tom Peters, designer of both the Stingray concept as well as the new Chevy Camaro, told Jalopnik's Ray Wert "It's not the C7, but that's not to say there aren't elements here that could translate into what the C7's about." Peters took the methodology used designing the Stingray concept and applied it to both the C6 Corvette as well as the new Chevy Camaro. That's why you'll see design elements from the Stingray concept in both the C6 Corvette (like the raking in the side coveys) and the Camaro.

Taking cues from art and the exterior, GM interior designer Micah Jones built a dual-cockpit design. On the steering wheel are two spherical balls. Right side controls shared functions like entertainment, climate control and navigation. The center console screen is a dramatic and expansive display with five settings controlled by a haptic touch screen—the same five you find on the wheel—Entertainment, Air, Home (laptop mode), Nav and Race modes.

While the Corvette Stingray Concept (a.k.a. Autobot Sideswipe) introduced at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this month sports heritage-inspired cues, its futuristic styling could also hint at the design of the next-generation model. GM made no comment on whether any of the concept would find make its way into the C7 Corvette, but there will doubtless be plenty of people willing to speculate. The gang at BadBoyVettes.com have taken it one step further and have come up with what the C7.R would look like if the Stingray went to production as-is. Using one of our live shots from the show, they've added the Corvette Racing livery, complete with the "Jake" skull mascot featured prominently on the hood. We think they did a good job, which is to be expected, since BBV helped put together the design schemes for the actual C6.R racers. In full race livery, the Stingray looks like it'd be equally adept at chasing down Gulf-liveried Aston Martins or battling giant evil robots. America has a SuperCar, or at least this is what Chevrolet general manager Ed Peper is saying (thinking) after showing to the public the new Corvette ZR1 at the Detroit Auto Show. Corvette is deep inside he blood of every American that needs speed and looks, but the we ZR1 is really business. It comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that sports 620 hp and a 823 NM (595 lb/ft) torque, being able to hit the 200mph speed, while the speedometer has a 220 mph on it.

Corvette’s ZR1 basic stats include a manual six-speed gearbox (race hardened), a high capacity dual-disc clutch or larger brake calipers. The design is great, with a raised carbon-fiber hood and carbon fiber panels prominent inside on the fenders, the roof and front splitter. Consider 19-inch or 20-inch chrome wheels and a dark color for the American SuperCar and it’s looking furious.
